{"id":344,"date":"2011-07-29T12:00:35","date_gmt":"2011-07-29T10:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/borkedcode.com\/wp\/?p=344"},"modified":"2011-07-29T12:00:35","modified_gmt":"2011-07-29T10:00:35","slug":"while-were-on-the-subject-of-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.borkedcode.com\/wp2\/2011\/07\/29\/while-were-on-the-subject-of-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"While we&#8217;re on the subject of cancer&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that Japanese children who were in the vicinity of the Fukushima reactor meltdown <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/asia\/japan\/8661421\/Children-in-Fukushima-to-be-given-regular-cancer-tests.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">are going to be tested for cancer for the rest of their lives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Think about that. \u00a0The reactor was built and operated with fraudulent safety test results (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2011-03-17\/japan-s-nuclear-disaster-caps-decades-of-faked-safety-reports-accidents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decades worth<\/a>). \u00a0It had fuel stores far greater than those of Chernobyl. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonsblog.com\/2011\/03\/amount-of-radioactive-fuel-at-fukushima.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Many times greater<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So when someone tries to pitch nuclear as a totally safe option &#8211; it isn&#8217;t. \u00a0That&#8217;s not to say it&#8217;s something that automatically should be dismissed, it isn&#8217;t. \u00a0It&#8217;s a valid power source. \u00a0But if you get someone trying to paint it as all rosy and perfect, they&#8217;re full of shit. \u00a0Worse, they probably have a vested interest &#8211; either financial or ideological &#8211; in seeing it happen.<\/p>\n<p>For now, my money&#8217;s on geothermal and solar. \u00a0Wind too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that Japanese children who were in the vicinity of the Fukushima reactor meltdown are going to be tested for cancer for the rest of their lives.
